Four Big’uns Go Back To School

By Steve Evans

It was a cold, wet and windy Saturday afternoon when Dreadlord Dave came to pick me up. He had arranged a Blood Bowl shindig with the Bristol University gaming club. After rummaging around a bit I managed to lay my hands on my Skaven team which hadn’t seen the light of day for a good few years, as you can imagine they were a bit on the dusty side but would have to do.

We then popped over to pick up Dan and Ben the other two Big’uns who had been roped into playing. Then we made the short journey to the students union building where the University boys meet up to play on a Saturday. After making the normal greetings and stocking up on chocolate, pop and beer at the University shop it was time to play some bowl.

We randomly drew opponents, the match ups were Ben’s Halflings (yes he brought an all Halfling team, not a Treeman in sight, brave man ) verses Orc’s , Daves Chaos Dwarves verses Skaven, Dan’s Dark Elves verses Dwarves and my Skaven verses Dark Elves. My opponent was running late and hadn’t arrived so I decided to take this opportunity to take some pictures, a few of which are below.

The games in full flow

Oh nice ass

That Halfling could be in a spot of bother

After some hard fought games Ben and Dan had both lost, well Ben was using Halflings and Dan who normally plays with Orc’s (oh-er) tried to use Orcy tactics with his Dark Elves not a good idea at all.

Old reliable Dave on the other hand had won his game, so it was left to me (as our game had started late) to see if I could win to draw us level, no pressure then. Well what can I say, with my Rat Ogre spending more time bellowing at opponents and falling over his own tail at critical moments the Dark Elves romped to an easy 2 – 0 victory though we did only get time to play the first half. This gave the University boys a 3 – 1 overall victory.

I’d like to finish this short report by saying well done to the University lads and a big thanks for inviting us around, hopefully we can arrange to get together again for some more Blood Bowl action soon.
