A New Year's Resolution Pt 2
By John Oman
It's early this month as Sally has decided the kitchen needs decorating, so no
more toys will be painted this month (!)
Well January has come and gone and it's time to stand up and be counted.
Just to remind you that I'm on a quest to complete 5 figures each week during
2005.
For January I chose 20 figures from my Barbarians collection. Well as with
anything new I directed all my energies into the project.
I started by undercoating, and painting flesh on all 20 figures. The flesh was
then inked over. I then divided the figures into small groups of similar poses
and fell into a routine of painting one group, and then moving onto another.
As the group had more and more paint applied and I had to get down to the fine
detail I broke the groups into 2's, 3's or 4's.
Once a figure was painted I put it aside to dry for 24 hours and the following
day I would begin the basing process.
So enthused was I that not only did I complete my 20 Barbarians I also found
time to get stuck into an additional 4 barbars that were lying around. I had
hoped to do more, but the lure of decorating the kitchen proved too much for me.
As promised there is a photo of the 20 Barbars completed in January. I've also
included a snap of the extras I managed (Click on an image to pop up a bigger version in a new window):
So what of February?
I'm torn here between progressing some 40K figures and plugging away with the
Barbarians. I think I'll stick with another 20 Barbars and see if I can sneak in a
few 40K in as "extras".
Here's a snap of February's target figures.

In next month's update I'll go into how I paint the little blighters.
Cheers for now
